Our first entry of a language mishap misfiring...!
While visiting a friend in Slovakia, I had been asking her and her boyfriend
what were all of the most useful words (aka curse words) translated in
Slovak. Later that day, her boyfriend was making fun of me for
something, and so I decided to try out my new vocabulary.
However, instead of "cocot", more or less the word for "jerk", I said, "Ti ci
compote!" Naturally, this translates to, "You're canned fruit!"
