Speaking in Spanish, I often have trouble remembering relationship words. Amigo, of course, is easy,
everyone knows that -- but, people like nieces, grandchildren, cousins,
significant others are hard for me. I will often refer to my nieces
and nephews as my grandchildren (but I look so young)! For some
reason, when I was 5 years old, I told my grandmother that my
kindergartner friend was my novio -- or lover, boyfriend. And, even when I tried to
correct it, I called him my husband!
Nobody has let that go in 30 years. . .
